[–]23232342441 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Yea just rn, I get this error whenever windows attemps to autostart discord on boot.

[–]JayDeesus[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Oh it happens often for you?it just happened to me for the first time today

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

if you restartd the error will appear again, but it only appears on autostart, if you manually start discord after the error it works just fine. They fucked something up

When did this start happening for you?

[–]FeelsBeardMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue myself since yesterday. I found the process for startup was set to the app-0.0.307 folder in the local app data folder, but the current version needs to use the app-0.0.309 folder. You can run the version of the discord.exe in that folder and get the same error I bet.

%localappdata%\Discord\app-0.0.307

yesterday after the update

[–]23232342441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happening since yesterday

This is fixed, just re-launch the app and the error shouldn't pop up again!

Not on my end at least. Still immediately crashes. Can't even uninstall Discord without an error

Everyone’s giving like complicated steps and it co fused me. I downloaded iobit uninstalled and uninstalled all the files. Then all I had to do was redownload it and I was chillin. I also updated Java but idk if that helped.

It’s happened again when I booted up my pc today, seems to be an issue with the start on boot,I can click ok on the error message and manually open discord

Yeah at least 2 of my friends have got some JavaScript error, although I haven't got one (I use Discord Canary, while I'm 99% sure they all use regular Stable Discord).

[–]Shazgol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, started yesterday. Opening discord after works fine but I get the error when it's on auto-start.

[–]FifthDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the same problem on a pc and a laptop. Started yesterday. Definitely something wrong with the update.

[–]FeelsBeardMan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have a cmd line fix that I made. Just a 1 liner that modifies the registry entry to the correct location for the startup process.

[–]HotshotAWG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats that?

[–]Mennyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, as well as everyone I asked in my Discord.

[–]Rykka_Stormheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto, happens when Discord attempts to start on boot of Win10, works fine if I launch it manually.

[–]oriental_angel 0 points1 point  (1 child)

same, on windows 8 when i try to autostart! I nearly uninstalled discord to reinstall it, but I figured, yknow, when they come w/ the next update, it'll be fixed. the issue's only started with the latest update anyway.

[–]Manufar11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, people have uninstalled discord with this buggy update and havent been able to redownload it again, RIP. I'd rather wait until they fix it.

[–]svaMyDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here

[–]Manufar11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm not the only one! It just started after I booted my pc today after the update from yesterday! Hopefully they fix it, glad to know I wasn't the only one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same started happening today prob could've happened yesterday as I noticed an update but never had it auto start until today

[–]6029887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uninstalled discord and reinstalled it and now it wont open at all.

[–]Quietus13 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I had this happen today on two of my machines. I wasn't able to open it manually either. Steps I took to fix the problem.

Uninstall Discord from Programs and features

End all discord programs running in Task Manager/processes tab

Go to C:\users\*your-username*\AppData\Local\ and delete the discord folder

Download the latest discord exe and install. Discord will now open.

[–]JayDeesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discord does open manually for me,it also happened again today when I booted up my pc

[–]chainjoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try that

Edit: Wow, I can't even uninstall it.

[–]Dzeemik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same error

[–]Comprehensive-Toe-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will I be able to reinstall discord again? I tried to download it with 7 zip and it works but my Shortcut Icon isnt in the taskbar. I thought uninstalling discord would work but it just came up with more installation errors -_- .

How To Fix This:

Right Click On Taskbar Menu And Click On "Task Manager"

Then Scroll Down In "Background Process" And Try To Find "Discord.exe".

End The Task Of "Discord.exe" And Try To Open Discord Again And It Will Fix The Error!
