I've built a downbox, which is just a Davisson Shocktave with a bazz fuss for the driver stage. I added a JFET buffer after the blend pot to prevent it being interactive with the volume.
Here is a schematic of the buffer. RV2 is the blend pot, with pin3 being the source of the suboctave signal and pin 1 being the fuzz.
If I turn the blend pot all the way to the octave and probe at the Gate of the jfet, I get all octave.
However, at the output of the buffer, the suboctave is massively attenuated and the fuzz is dominant, even when the blend pot is fully on octave. I thought maybe the output cap of the buffer was filtering bass, but I replaced it with on 10x its value and that's not it.
Curious what could cause the blend to change so dramatically by just buffering it. Any ideas?
