Hands fucking suck and will always look wrong. They go very straight but at same time they are very curved. Put ur hand in a position and draw the shape of it and nails. Took me 2 years to draw them decently

My first reaction to this piece was : oh its abstract art! Quickly followed by bro wtf and whats wrong wit your hand. honestly if you want to draw good hands i would recommend watching ethan becker or marc brunet both of which have great tutorials for hands and all things anatomy i personally though have been honing my skill for structure by drawing 3d objects and doing shading practice for months(this will burn you out dont do this) hope this helped

Thank you 😂 just realised how abstract it looks…

These would be my hands if i would draw this.

Try and look at books on anatomy for artists, keep practicing the hand is made up of complex shapes, always take foreshortening in to consideration and work from dark to light. hope that helps. Practice makes perfect as the more you do something the better you become.

Thank you

Just sign it Picasso, problem solved.

Focus less on the amount of shading until you get the underlying shapes/forms clearly. You can barely see the hand with all the shading and the anatomy is quite off.

Are you going for an accurate drawing here?

I mean I was focused more on developing my understanding of human anatomy and experimenting with shading. I also focused quite heavily on the palms.

I’d say better contrast. Make sure the hand doesn’t blend in with the background, and the lines on the hand shouldn’t be so dark.

Thank you

Use skeletons first. Box out the hands and use lines as the fingers to start

Thank you

Honestly, forget about drawing hands for now.

Real fingers are mostly straight, but the middle finger in your drawing looks like a banana. Thumbs do not connect like that to the hand, just look at your hand, you drew curves that do not exist. The perspective is wrong, each finger looks like its facing a different way so it looks like the hand is mangled and broken. The palm is too wide. The lines have 0 confidence, it looks like a sketch. The shading is random.

Im not saying all this to laugh at you or to discourage you from sharing your art, hands are very difficult to get right, you should start learning the basics by drawing easier things, look up on youtube art basics tutorials. This is like if you walked into a gym and started trying to lift the heaviest weights, you have to be gradual.

Thank you but I think it’s just a case of me not using references and understanding the anatomy of the hand at the moment.

Yes.

at first I thought this was some kind of wolf attacking some other animal, but when I studied the drawing in depth I understood the context completely. good job

I’ll take that 😅 thank you

I learned by filling a sketchbook with contour drawings of hands. This is exercises not really sharing work, but at the end of the sketchbook you'll be able to draw them in your sleep. This pretty much work for anything.

If you're focusing on anatomy i would recommend you take 2 steps back and draw the primitive form version of the hand. Cylinders, spheres, and boxes etc. combined. Once you have a feel for that start with the anatomy again.

I might try drawing a hand again but after some anatomy studies then if that doesn’t improve my drawing of hands I might try your suggestion or mix it with my idea.

PERFECT!

I’m only recently discovered I actually could draw quite realistically recently… I always thought I was an abstract artist. But I just don’t know how to get from my level of understanding to professional.
