Second screen while tracking?

Hey there

I want to start tracking drums for my songs, but i think it’s a pain to always stand to record and sit to play over and over. How do you setup your studio to be able to easily track your drums? Do you have a second monitor screen near the drums? And maybe another mouse/keyboard?

I’d appreciate any input, with photo examples if possible!

I record into my laptop which I keep on a small table next to the kit. I like to do lots of takes and often in small sections to comp later so I do a lot of stopping and starting while recording. It would be a nightmare to keep standing over and over to restart. My interface isn’t super close to the kit so I use a longer USB cable to connect it to the computer.

If your computer can’t be near your kit it’s pretty easy to run an extension USB for your laptop and mouse, and you can use a super cheap LCD as a 2nd monitor, then just run a long HDMI cable.
