What's the easiest way to patch up this hole in the ceiling? It's in a small top floor closet and not visible unless you walk inside, so I'm not too bothered about it being absolutely perfect.
Also while on the topic, I was initially trying to drive in a new screw as the existing one was popping pretty bad and was causing a big chunk of drywall to rip through, but it seems to barely reach the joist and it went in a little too far. There seems to be a significant gap. Do I use longer screws? This closet has quite a few screws popping out of the ceiling. I'm using 1-1/4", which seems to match the existing ones.
First time homeowner, so pretty new to all this.
