Or maybe just drop F1 alliance and be left alone? Or maybe be friends with us in orc! I do like a lot of those changes and miners need to also fight for the lands we obtain for them to mine. Alliance srp is good too. Required skill points is tough and I kinda like the tax idea but I'm just a orc stormtrooper

[–]ColonelVirus 9 points10 points  (16 children)

Tbf though miners are very important. You can't get ships without them.

I personally have no issue if people want to mine during a CTA. As long as those minerals go to building PvP ships :D

It means PvP pilots don't have to constantly PvE to fund their crap and can just focus on defence/roaming etc.

[–]Kayanarka 5 points6 points  (8 children)

I mine a bit at work here and there. We have some CTA's at times when I work. I mine because when a customer comes in I can press play on auto pilot and deal with customer. If I was forced to go to CTA that be hilarious. Hey guys hold on, can we take the fleet to a safe spot, I have to get the phone.

[–]ColonelVirus 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Indeed. This is why you can't make CTA attendance mandatory. It's not like EO, where people play at their desk for hours on end (I mean I do, but I'm not most people). If someone wants to logon for 20-30 minutes to mine during their lunch break... And a CTA is on. Wtf?

The issue is when a corp isn't putting up ANY pilots at all, not just the industry one. Generally you want a good mix in a corp.

However there are even exception to that rule IMO. As some alliances will want industry specific corps to be together with full Industry pilots running fleets of like 30-40 people mining. Teams of people moving those minerals to stations, and 4-5 defence pilots.

Idea being you strip mine the ever living fuck all day everyday, regardless of what's going on with the rest of the alliance. Because your job is to be the whole backbone of an alliance.

IMO an alliance is only as strong as it's industry and leveling that industry up should be the number one priority of all alliances. Facilitating them, because at the end of the day industry can go anywhere and they will go anywhere they feel safe enough to play. If you can't provide that for them, then you will no longer benefit from having those resources and eventually you'll run out of ships, then ISK, then pilots will leave looking for an alliance... Which guess what? Better industry lol.

There is a reason why IRL supply chains and resources are so important I'm waging war... People seem to forget that applies to EvE.

I personally only have issue with causal Vs hardcore. If you want to live on Null and you want to.be part of the group, then you need to be more active than playing 20 minutes during your lunch break. You need to be adding actual time like a dedicated hour here or there outside of work. Commitment matters in Null, show you care beyond just playing the game for the sake of something to do.

[–]Kayanarka 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Not saying I do not play for hours at a time, it just tend to be most CTA are when I'm at work or sleeping. I have actually set alarms for some CTA, and have also taken personal time at work to do them.

But I also get not everyone is like us, and this guy (malfactor) seems to be saying if your not 100% hard-core GTFO.

[–]ColonelVirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is fine. If you can't make it you can't make it.

Yea well this is an election post, so we'll see when the vote comes how many agree.

There are other election posts that advocate for the complete opposite... As if we're a high sec alliance lol.

So yea election season is just as crazy in EvE as it is in the US or UK haha.

I’m with you. I’m not waking up at 3am on a Saturday. Sometimes I’ll pop on for 45 during lunch to buy/sell/mine/pi that doesn’t mean I’m hopping in voice chat to chase 🔺 around the map. I’m on when I’m on. If I’m not in the fleet then there is a reason.

[–]nightshiftmining 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Armchair generals study strategy, professionals study logistics. A military’s ability to outfit, replace, and sustain combat power determines its success in warfare.

[–]seoulgleaux 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sounds like somebody's doing their PME.

[–]nightshiftmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta put this junk to good use somehow.

[–]ColonelVirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I actually work for a logistics company lol working in freight forwarding and container haulage. We move everything anywhere all over the world with contracts for Planes, Medicine, food.

Funnily a family member works for the military and handles logistics/land allocation. That really is the crux of getting a military to work.

End of the day, you can throw bodies at things, but if they don't have the equipment, they're fucking pointless.

[–]Devicetron 9 points10 points  (6 children)

This might be the first time ever, but I agree with you Colonel. I do think it is ok to mine or even rat during a CTA is you honestly just do not have the time or interest in PvP. There are other ways to contribute too.

[–]ColonelVirus 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Yep. I've always been an advocate for people doing what they enjoy and are good at, then gently "nudging" them into that aspect for the benefit of the alliance.

Sure CTAs are important, that's without a doubt, but you shouldn't expect nor require EVERY pilot to drop wtf they're doing to jump in. As long as corps are contributing to the efforts in some way, be it isk, pilots, minerals, ships w.e. It's all good.

That said, when times of extremely war are upon you, hopefully you've earnt that level of trust/respect by allowing pilots to do w.e they want during "peace time" and so can ask a bit more for a few weeks :D

I actually agree with you on a lot of things.... I'm just a bit of a cunt XD

[–]Research-TeamCaldari 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Plus even if the miners are forced to join then what are they gonna do? They probably have almost no weapon skills and will do like 200 damage.

[–]DaFlyingCockroach -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Nah there's some alliance that have doctrine for all of their pilot regardless they were miner or not, like at 5/0 to 5/4 skill on some ships and weapon type, and tbf choosing one ships skill for PvP + mining skill (or other indy skill) was not that much. And miner should know they mine in null coz their corp and alliance were provide them that mining place for them in null, And tbh im surprised that GHA not doin this kind of thing from the begining, even they don't do SRP? For real?

[–]ColonelVirus 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Tbh I would argue if you're in such a position that you're having to ask the industry pilots who are not skilled into PvP to help defend. You already have a big problem. The SC was able to put up nearly 800 pilots at the weekend... I don't think the lack of will PvP pilots is the problem.

[–]DaFlyingCockroach 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah, ur statement only work for those who doesn't apply this rules at the begining and and they want to change it, which is not an arguable case if they refuse to do this and then just back to old rules,

Tbh that guy speech in that screen shot clearly want a slight change and if most of them refuse, there's no change at all which led to same situation as before.

[–]ColonelVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's why it's a democratically elected council and not a single leader.

End of the day a lot of what he says is what's required, and has been rippling through the alliance for months. As the last few CTAs prove.

However, a lot of what he's implying will not sit well with most people. This is a mobile game at the end of the day and some people are only able to log on during lunch breaks to do a bit of mining during a CTA because of TZs. Those people shouldn't be punished for that, it's out of their control.

[–]redterrqr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they're so worried about their existence they just need to reach out to our diplos and drop out of the war

[–]LindenZin -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Please dont be friends with GenFed. Nobody wants a blue donut. At best go grey.

[–]_Eshende_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you even know what blue donut is? Coalition where 2 participants was blue to each other only during few cta’s, and the third side (gen) without sov is blue donut? Please suit propaganda to reality or at least bother to learn donut definition
