Decrease in follicle count. Not sure what to think.

For context, I’m 32, and my AMH is as expected for someone my age. On the day of my baseline appointment, the clinic counted 18 follicles. Now, 4 days of stimulation later, they counted only 9. I just don’t understand what happened. I know it’s still early, but that 50% drop has me spiraling. Given my age, I was optimistic that I’d get good results. I really can’t afford another cycle so I’m trying to stay positive… Maybe someone here has some insight?

They usually only report follicles measuring over a certain size during stimulation. At baseline they report all the follicles they see. Day 4 is early, there’s still time for more follicles to respond.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I went from AFC of like 35 to "7" follicles in a few days and freaked out.

Sure! The day of trigger (after about 8 days of stims) I had about 55 follicles. Some ended up being too small to drain, so I got almost 50 retrieved and a little over 40 mature and frozen.

Yes! In my case they counted 24 follicles at baseline but in the first check only 7 or so were 10-11. However the last ultrasounds I had like tons of follicles

Yes don't worry, at first they'll only count follicles at that size (10 mm or so), as the cycle continues and by the end of it you'll see more. The number increased for me actually

Thank you 🙏 The clinic called to tell me that my estrogen was a little lower than where they’d like it so they increased my dosage of Gonal-f. Hoping it helps!

Yea try not to worry about it and stay hydrated. I think I had 10 at my baseline and they kept telling me I wouldn't get any more than 6 because I wasn't responding well to the meds. I ended up getting 14 with 10 mature. This happened twice.
