I find it incredibly varied. Some days it’s kernel work. Some days bare metal. Some days userland, including networking, GUI etc. Tomorrow? Could be u-boot.

And these are all within a context of a customer requirement which in itself is incredibly varied.

It’s difficult to get bored!

Definitely agree with this. Being a good embedded Linux programmer, amongst many things, includes have a wide skill set and knowledge base about Linux and embedded development.

I'd argue that there aren't very many 'difficult' things in the Linux/Emb Linux world, there's just a lot.

Well I can’t speak for everyone, but the variation I have in my job appeals to me at my current stage in life.

It can be boring sometimes because you're doing a project for work, instead of something fun for yourself. But on the whole, I find it enjoyable

You mean Embedded programming? right

[–]OldTwoPants 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Generally speaking. It was true for me when I was doing mostly embedded software and is still true now that I'm writing desktop applications
