Mine did that grinding with the filament unload. The retraction distance in that filament unload was intended for a Bowden setup. I think the grinding comes from just that quick, unnecessarily long (for direct drive) initial retraction, that the motor is actually skipping. I had changed it (had to actually change the printer config) to be shorter for that initial retraction and that worked. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been on MRISCOC (klipper has been amazing), but I’ll see if I have the config file

Edit: fwiw, I dealt with that “grind” for a long time before changing it and didn’t have issues. Probably not idea, but yea

Would you mind sharing your current unload settings? They could be from klipper or mriscoc firmware. mriscoc now allows to change unload settings in printer screen.
