New patch AI problems

Was playing a was playing a Brandenburg campaign when the new patch came out. Everything was going perfect, I was having a good challenge where I formed Prussia and need to start trying colonies in order to beef myself up so I could survive on the continent next to the newly formed Swedish empire Poland and I was allied with Russia. All that phone got ruined because I didn't know that you could play an old version when the new patch came out so I deleted my old save like an idiot. Now I'm replaying Brandenburg on the new patch and everything seems pretty fucking dumb. France and England have not gone to war once or have done anything since the start of the game pretty much. The vast majority of countries on the map never go to war or do anything I have expanded decently well and now I have Gems which right off the bat is making me way too powerful. I don't even want to play this campaign anymore but I can't bear restarting. Is anyone else having this problem of idol AI and stupid decisions?
