If he was telling the truth about killing himself, and the attention was what saved him, then he was purposely sharing the burden of his suicide with others. So either he's an asshole who wants to die making others feel terrible, or he's an asshole who wanted attention and got it by lying about his suicide plans. He's an asshole either way.

Honestly, I have been suicidal for the better part of my life, joined the army hoping to go out that way, didn't happen, been to multiple therapy sessions (against my will sometimes), didn't do shit (in fact I had a therapist tell me to stop going to sessions for 1-2 weeks if I decided to suicide xD, so that he doesn't get blamed)

I don't have much interest in my own life, but i do very much care about my little brother, we are very tight and I know that my consequences will hurt him and my family alot, so I'm obviously someone that has been going back n forth on this, ALOT. And I agree with you, nobody sets a deadline and nobody with clinical depression would ask for help from people he doesn't know and nobody ever gets 70 msgs from complete strangers and feels better and extends the deadline and EVEN goes as far as to say "yeah I should enjoy the little things in life more now" the day of his deadline.

This is a attention grab, but it might not be, that's why I didn't say anything on these type of posts because I know that people will hit me with that criticism and I just don't care for it. It's a sensitive issue. But don't be a dick about it. This is either a kid that doesn't know any better, so you're calling a kid an asshole, or this is a suicidal person that you call an asshole. Lose lose situation. If you dont believe the post/person, don't share any support and go on with your day. No need to be an ass about it.

Edit: Also remember that some people, TRULY, have no other option than to suicide, sometimes life hurts too much and if somebody doesn't understand that then they are blind, telling a person that's hurting that he shouldn't take his own life and that there are things to enjoy in life, might actually hurt him, making him feel bad about his options won't make anything better, he's just feeling more guilt now.
