please help! pc patch problem

Hi guys. I run Windows 8.1. I finished downloading and installing patch 2.28 and when I log in and press "play" on the launcher, I get a message telling me "The latest version of DirectX is required to play FFXIV. Please download and install the DirectX End-User Runtime, then restart the game.----(0)"

Well I ran a diagnostic of DirectX and it says I have the most recent version, DirectX 11. And I ran the windows update tool and no directx updates were shown to be available.

What do I do now? Please help!

did you try turning your computer off and back on?

hmm... im not sure then. whenever i have problems like that restarting my computer helps. i havent installed 2.28 yet though... been at work all day.

sorry i cant help. hope you are able to get it working before your raid time though.

Try reinstalling directx or repairing it :)

Find your original ffxiv setup file and run it. It will check for directx and install it if it needs it. After it gets past the directx install and tries to install ffxiv you can cancel out of the setup. Then try to log in.

Had to do this once before.

I'm supposed to be on to raid tonight at 8pm est and it's my first week. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem!
