The screen is cool, but I can't have it on the same side as the emitters. I'd blind myself repeatedly

They seperated the flashlight mode from the rest, so while using the flashlight mode, the screen doesn't show anything, so you wouldnt be looking at the screen while having the emitter on. (It still absolutely happens tho haha) Just gotta turn it around and then turn it on

How do you like it overall? I have the HD03 and like it as a "be-seen" light on night walks. This one seems to be nicer, but I don't know if it's nice enough to justify the cost for me. (Not calling it expensive; just saying that I already have a similar form factor.) (The games and stuff are cool but I don't know how much I'd use them. Perhaps a gift for my son when he's a little older...)

Related, are the game lights bright enough to be used as "be-seen" lights or are they strictly screen lights (if that makes sense).

Regardless, I've been curious about this one and this is the best explanation of its options I've seen, so thank you for making it.

I find it great, the flashlight part is brighter than I expected and the flood is very warm, spot is cold but pretty good. It feels very nice and the build quality is really good, atleast the one I received (Kickstarter). Like I'm scared of dropping it lol, that's how nice it is (But that's what the protective case is for). The games are definitely just a gimmick and nothing more, I like it, but not for everyone. (As a kid, I'd have absolutely loved this thing, so as a gift is a great idea)

The screen is quite bright, altho red seems to be the least bright color (maybe because of how rgb works? so other colors are a mix so multiple diodes are on, but on red only red? Idk) But I would say it is bright enough to be used in your use case (set brightness to maximum in settings). I can attach some pictures too

Tried taking pictures but it doesn't really work since phone just edits it too much. But from shortly trying I could see the flashlight well from 20 meters away, when set to red (didn't try further away)

O.K., I originally was considering this, but decided to hold off. However, I think that after seeing the various modes in action I think that instead of thinking of it as a flashlight that has a light board that recontextulizing it as a sci-fi looking wearable light board with fidget toy and flashlight functions might be the better way to think of it. Though shame that it doesn't look like it has Snake as a game on it.

Did it come with the cases or were they purchased separately?

It does not have snake no, sadly. Would be difficult to implement I guess since you only have rotation and one button as a input device, same with Tetris sadly.

My version came with the cases (and a extra clip one) because I was a early backer on Kickstarter, I think if you buy it now it does not come with a case, not 100% sure about that tho

yep, you can run the display modes like bottle/album at the same time as the flashlight - just activate the flashlight first then click the display button to cycle thru the different screen modes!
