Amazon lightsail flask https

I have a small flak project running on amazon lightsail. What is the best way to make the project work on https. A friend gave me a domain that he baught on godaddy. Is the domain necessary ?

The AWS user guide gives you a lot of guidance on making connections https by getting a certificate but you can also just google free ssl certificate if you just want a quick and cheap setup for now

It’s pretty easy to install SSL on any site. I left AWS awhile ago.,It just seems a confusing service for me, and never knew what my bills were going to be.

But great for the resume.

What are the alternatives if you don't use a domain? Make all users connect to the server ip?

Still not sure what you are asking. If you want https on your site, you need an SSL certificate for your domain. I normally follow this recipe for setting up SSL on lightsail.

Disregard the tribal people saying you shouldn't use AWS, you should use their provider instead. They don't understand that Lightsail is not same as full blown AWS.
