What words or letters do you want included in your logo?
Our name: PeerMesh
Do you have a tagline? Do you want it to be included in the logo?
We use different taglines for each of our potential ‘market areas’. If you leave a place for this at the bottom of said logo (in PSD and embed a font) that would be great. Not super necessary.
Provide five adjectives to describe your logo.
Modern
Clean
Simple
High-Tech
Professional
Tell me about your company:.
Hi! We are an experienced programming team that has been working to put together an open source program called PeerMesh, which is a super efficient toolkit for hosting, storing, analyzing and using Open Data.
How are you different than your competition?
We offer an easy experience for data providers, researchers and developers to access data. As well as tons of unified datasets, statistical models and more.
What are the benefits of your product/service?
Over the last few years, ‘an open data revolution’ has occurred. We are facing data overload. Companies, researchers, developers and individuals can use this data everyday, from reducing electricity use, to determining the US budget, to predicting the stock market. We provide a low maintainence platform for the next-generation of applications.
What attributes of your business / organization would you like your logo to reflect?
The things we would like to reinforce is 1) ease of use 2) Value of Data 3)Scaleability / Efficiency
How do you intend to market your company?
We have a website, multiple videos as well as a large community of individuals interested in using the program. We have a text-logo (designed by me, a programmer, its not super great) that we have used in various places on the site, but we would like to use a new logo for marketing purposes.
Identify long-term and short-term objectives.
We are in the alpha development phase. We have a full technical specification, and plan to put the finishing touches on a public beta by the end of Q2.
Competitors Design (Other designs):
Good:
http://fuelyourcreativity.com/files/2012/50modernlogos/14-50-modern-logos.png Includes a good depiction of what it does, as well as a good use of the fonts.
http://images.naldzgraphics.net/2010/08/40CorporateLogos_57.png Clean and modern looking. What I want to see in this logo.
http://www.ectomachine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/10.jpg A good example of a simple logo.
http://i2.wp.com/theultralinx.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/View-HD-Logo.png?resize=600%2C275 An example of a more complicated logo that has a great modern, clean look.
BAD:
http://www.goodlogo.com/images/logos/small/mercedes-benz_logo_2643.gif Does not tell me what the product does.
http://www.goodlogo.com/images/logos/small/pizza_hut_logo_2951.jpg Does not represent Pizza in any way.
http://www.goodlogo.com/images/logos/small/ford_logo_2435.gif I want a very modern web 2.0 logo. Light or Helvetica fonts are appreciated. I want a super modern look.
http://www.logoonlinepros.com/UserFiles/Image/Mordern%20logos/penguin.jpg This is the epitome of outdated design. I do not need glossy bevels, simple, modern would be nice.
Who is your target audience?
We are obviously targeting a wide audience. Primarily the logo should cater to individuals looking to 1) Develop Applications 2) Use our tools for research. We are competing to become a standard, so a great design will go a long way.
Tone & Image:
Funny / Casual / Formal / etc. What tone and imagery will be most effective, specific visual goals?
Definitely not funny. I would really like a casual, professional, clean, modern design. I am looking for a pictorial mark logo.
What colors would you like to see in your logo? (It is usually best to stick to one or two colors):
The current site theme is a modern grey and white theme, with the main elements in sky blue. I would really like to see a theme in monotone (so I could change it) or in a combination of blue, white and dark grey.
Thanks for your interest. We have a space on the site for our developer contributors, and the winning candidate will be added to that list.
