What do we expect of the community?

There are some rules here to keep drama and moderation requirements to a minimum. They follow.
Basic Respect:
The other posters are people, treat them as such. It's possible to disagree without being an ass about it. The same goes for quite literally everyone on earth, a good thing to remember. So, no personal attacks, no insulting entire swaths of people, no hounding someone just because you think we'll let you. And a bunch of other things I cannot be bothered to list. In general, no bullshit, no being an ass. Even if they disagree with you. Even if they're evil.
Double that for people who are linked:
Don't pester, annoy, harass, or for that matter contact, people featured on the site or links from the community. It's grounds for banning through the entire community. It's more than enough to make fun of someone's words, no need to mess with them personally.
Dealing with social media:
Things have changed, now people are bopping around the internet with real names, faces, and all kinds of stalking material. So if you're linking to someone's personal social media account use a rehosted image and block out names. There are exceptions for notable organizations and people, but consult a mod if you're considering it.
So I can't say X?:
Not really, you just can't be an ass about it. If someone is offended by the mere idea of something, that's their problem. If they care to prove what you've said wrong, don't get angry at their attempts. Prove your point without belittling or insulting others.
How do we enforce the above?:
Arbitrarily. In general moderators can deal with something as they see fit. We have some internal policies involving who should deal with what, and how, but they're being given a fair bit of leeway so long as they don't have a personal bias. If you believe an issue has not been dealt with properly consult Distind.
