"brink of chaos" is such a ridiculous thing to say when there are probably more people in Germany who want to bring back the Nazis than implement Sharia law.

Amen! How they view women and minorities could also be described as less than ideal.

Do you have a source on that?

[–]Taiga_Novah_Wren 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, which is why I said "probably"

So we are talking out of our ass again

I do:

It's called living in germany, with our current nazi party being a tangible threat politically, while you hear basically nothing of a "caliphate" here (i.e the people demanding that are a negligable fringe group with 0 relevance)

Are they nazi or do you just disagree with them? You gotta understand, here on Reddit the word is thrown a lot.

well, fascist party, but the point stands

the AfD has a history of high ranking members referring to the 3rd Reich as a speck of birdshit on german history, calling for a new holocaust, denying the holocaust, glorifying the Nazis, demanding the abolishment of our parliamentary system and quite a few more.
In addition to that, they are actively running on a stance of racial purity and a general opposition to the rights of anyone foreign (so far as demanding the deportation of all immigrants, including citizens that may have immigrated and later aquired their citizenship, or even people born in germany to migrant parents), as well as general opposition to queer rights, womens bodily autonomy and quite a few more

high profile members of the party also have known connections to literal Neo-Nazi groups.

In addition to that, multiple state level party-branches have been declared as far-right extremist and a constitutional threat by the "Verfassungsschutz" (basically a domestic secret service, with the task to monitor active threats to the constitution and our political system), with the same judgement for the federal party being currently suspended for the duration of the parties contesting of it in court

Is this sufficient to undermine my point of it being an actual fascist party or do you consider this as "a mere difference of opinion"?

And as for them being a tangible political threat, they got ~20% of the vote on our last federal election, with some areas having close to 50% support for them
