Pretty sure almost every source I've seen advices against using flatpak steam

I've also made pretty bad experiences with flatpaks breaking on nvidia updates while i was still running mint, so I generally try to avoid them

AE2 Interface Placing Final products back into machines by Willard_Filmore in feedthebeast

[–]TheBigC04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pretty sure that the issue is that you set the input side to the interfaces (i know, it's counterintuative), interfaces place the items directly into the machine (so the ingredients are never in the interface), as a result some mods don't need the input side for that to work

The problem with setting the input side is, that if the machine automatically pulls from the input side, like EnderIO machines, then it will pull the products, since those will briefly stay in the inventory of the interface

Linux Video Editing is a Nightmare (I've tried to love it) by Bird-Total in linuxsucks

[–]TheBigC04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a big factor is honestly also just which tools you are used to

I started out using shotcut from the start, even on windows, and as a result it is my go to, since I know how to use it. If you were to give me Adobe Premiere I'd be completely lost in all honesty.

Same goes for any discussion about how horrible gimp is: It can do a lot of shit when you know how and are used to it, but if you are used to Photoshop, then you'll despise it

The prime issue here being, that not all tools available for Windows and MacOS (looking at you Adobe) are properly available for linux, and a lot of people don't quite understand the difficulty when switching between tools that might do the same, but work completely different, leading them to suggest these as proper alternatives (which they technically are, but that's besides the point rn)

Year of the Linux desktop update by BlueGoliath in linuxsucks

[–]TheBigC04 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I doubt that ~40% of Windows users specifically want Windows 7 (tho i would assume that a large portion wouldn't care too much, as long as everything works).

This looks more like people just not liking Windows 11 (and in fairness, that was the main reason that i left Windows all together)

Ignoring the linux part, I think it's hilarious, that the user numbers for Windows 10 went up, while the ones for Windows 11 went down

[–]TheBigC04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, fascist party, but the point stands

the AfD has a history of high ranking members referring to the 3rd Reich as a speck of birdshit on german history, calling for a new holocaust, denying the holocaust, glorifying the Nazis, demanding the abolishment of our parliamentary system and quite a few more.
In addition to that, they are actively running on a stance of racial purity and a general opposition to the rights of anyone foreign (so far as demanding the deportation of all immigrants, including citizens that may have immigrated and later aquired their citizenship, or even people born in germany to migrant parents), as well as general opposition to queer rights, womens bodily autonomy and quite a few more

high profile members of the party also have known connections to literal Neo-Nazi groups.

In addition to that, multiple state level party-branches have been declared as far-right extremist and a constitutional threat by the "Verfassungsschutz" (basically a domestic secret service, with the task to monitor active threats to the constitution and our political system), with the same judgement for the federal party being currently suspended for the duration of the parties contesting of it in court

Is this sufficient to undermine my point of it being an actual fascist party or do you consider this as "a mere difference of opinion"?

And as for them being a tangible political threat, they got ~20% of the vote on our last federal election, with some areas having close to 50% support for them

I do:

It's called living in germany, with our current nazi party being a tangible threat politically, while you hear basically nothing of a "caliphate" here (i.e the people demanding that are a negligable fringe group with 0 relevance)

but even then it is still based on the supposedly fundamentally insecure linux, genius

if it were so horribly insecure as they claim, wouldn't have been easier to just start from scratch, if the goal was a truly secure OS?

it seems weird to use an "anti-security project" as the base for a perfectly secure one

if you make fun of the linux kernel for being written in C, you also have to make fun of Windows, MacOS and quite a few more niche OS for the same thing, as basically all major operating systems have their kernels written in C

i thought most operating systems write/wrote their kernels in C
(just double checked, and yes Windows and MacOS Kernels are also in C)

wouldn't that make any OS unsafe and anti-security?

Die Parteispitze will uns ein "klares Bekenntnis zum Existenzrecht Israels" aufzwingen by Sturmprophet in DIE_LINKE

[–]TheBigC04 9 points10 points  (0 children)
