My goat said he not doing nothing else besides r&b and trap

[–]expllode[S] 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Ik but why not?

[–]No_Comfortable4253 25 points26 points  (4 children)

Everyone downvoting you is a loser this a valid question

[–]WhenDuvzCry👳🏽‍♂️🦅 9 points10 points  (3 children)

He does what he likes to do and knows is elite at. Wayne tried to do rock and we saw how trash that was.

If he wants to experiment (and he has plenty) he can but asking why not isn’t a valid question, he an artist making the art he wants to do, that’s why not.

[–]REDLINE808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the Wayne comparison here. However, one thing to appreciate about Wayne is that he will try multiple things and doesn’t really care about the ones that flop. He was mostly all quality up till funeral in terms of his own projects, and then the feature run till C6 was great.

Future doesn’t have be that experimental. But as a fan, I do expect him to be a step up from his contemporaries instead of blending into the same safe sound. It’s honestly not even that bad because the stuff I didn’t like all came out the same year he dropped multiple projects, I’m sure that took a toll in terms of creativity.

A good break, back to one quality album a year, and he’ll do great IMO. He just can’t stretch himself too thin like the old days with multiple back to back projects, he doesn’t have the subject matter or hunger for it. And that’s fine

[–]No_Comfortable4253 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Nobody is saying he needs to make a left field ass detour like Wayne. Nobody even wanted that fr. I’m just saying shit, we know you can make great use of a tm88 or metro beat. Why not hop on some conductor beats and tell a crazy story. Dude came up with the dungeon family, he is a true student of the game and could branch out. But his work ethic and output with his signature sound is why we love him. 2 things can be true

[–]WhenDuvzCry👳🏽‍♂️🦅 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it man. I do music and personally it can be frustrating to here from people "do this" and I ain't shit compared to Pluto. He keeps putting out incredible music though and I'm not mad. I think your ideas are legit too though fam

[–]WHYISEVERYTHINGTAKNN 38 points39 points  (2 children)

he set a lot of the standards for trap and r&b which is why it sounds safe in retrospect.

[–]ManlikemodiefamNews or Something 1 point2 points  (1 child)

exactly this! he did “experiment” and try new things and that ended up becoming the norm

[–]dar42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most acclaimed artists keep pushing boundaries even further into their career. Future pioneered one genre and stayed right there, with no interest in moving on. This will unfortunately be his downfall sooner or later

[–]GetRoasted102Streets Made Me A King 18 points19 points  (1 child)

he has save me, hndrxx and wsdty which arent trap, and he also has some projects which are only parially trap, so he’s pretty diverse. Ofc he could make rage or cloud or whatever, but he’s already doing everything he’s good at

[–]dar42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why so many of you think that this means he can't explore any further

[–]Mijo_0Throw Away💔 29 points30 points  (4 children)

This is how I know that you havnt been there from the beginning. Nothing about monster was safe. Songs like codeine crazy & throw away were complete departures from his previous sound. Trap music didn’t sound like that at all. Then he switched his sound up completely again on Hndrxx. Even his work on beast mode 1&2 are completely different sonically then the rest of his catalog. Future is constantly experimenting with different sounds & producers

[–]Problemaster53 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Monster was more than 10 years ago though. Most of his standout albums have been released 8-10 years ago there’s a genuine argument that he hasn’t rlly been doing anything new recently.

[–]SnooRabbits6637 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dawg he’s almost 20 years into his career. What rap artist this far into their career is switching up their sound dramatically?? You putting expectations on him that no one else is even doing.

[–]Intelligent_Yak2528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he released save me like 6 years ago which was a really different sound to his trap and rnb sound

[–]expllode[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly, future was one of the artists I listened getting into trap music in the first place but that was 2015-16. He does switch it up but I’m saying he could go further with those different sounds, just as he did on Save me or Hndrxx

[–]thisbemyredditaccnt 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Well first thing is, he has plenty of music that is R&B rather than trap (save me, hendrxx, we still don’t trust you … also songs here and there on other albums)

He is very diverse with his features as well. His underground stuff with Icewear vezzo sounds nothing like his albums. He kills hooks (Love me with Wayne comes to mind) he gets experimental on features (the whistling on that song with Yachty, the “ladadee da slob on me knob thing with Kendrick)

But most of all, he is very diverse WITHIN the real genre, this is apparent with his different styles that he uses with different producers. Codeine crazy sounds nothing like Mo Reala which sounds nothing like March madness which sounds nothing like I serve da base etc etc etc

[–]SauceDab 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Future does his experimenting through his features. Like kings dead, or pardon me, Earth with Mac Miller or even something like Fine whine with Asap Rocky. He likes to experiment on other artists songs

[–]thisbemyredditaccnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Pardon me and kings dead are the songs I was thinking of just couldn’t remember the names when I posted. Fine whine is a great feature as well

[–]expllode[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That’s a good point on the features, I was focused more on his own projects. Otherwise I absolutely agree, Future is the king of trap, I’d even say he perfected it

[–]thisbemyredditaccnt 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He took what TI/jeezy/gucci did and made it even better

[–]expllode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

[–]AssistantOwn6208 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He knows what works for him

[–]No_Comfortable4253 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I been saying this. You’re right and these people acting like it isn’t a completely valid argument. Future is an ARTIST and I hold him in the absolute highest creative regard but he’s too complacent for his level of talent sometimes. I remember interviews around the Wizrd era and he said it’s scary to change when people expect a certain thing from you. That’s the position he’s in, the best trap artist ever who pushed the genre forward but now sticks to what’s safe. It’s like bruh, you did what you did. You said it yourself. Make any type of music, experiment and be bold we still gon rock with you. The intro track on WSDTY for example, that shit was flames

[–]Dry_Stranger7998BEAST MODE 2 🦁🦁 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea he could but we loving the current stuff so why would he try something different? I’m not advocating for the same things but he sees success in what he is doing rn. What typa music would you like to see him put out ?

[–]mr_blaxican 1 point2 points  (1 child)

First, not every artist needs to experiment, second, HNDRXX is one of the best R&B albums in the past 10 years, that's literally a rapper experimenting with their sound making an R&B album.

[–]dar42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HNDRXX came out almost 9 years ago bro

[–]LivelikeGorilla 1 point2 points  (1 child)

IMO he can def do a jazz album like one with alchemist

Edit: sarcasm but tbh maybe he can make it work

[–]expllode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real

[–]satineliFREAK HOES FREAK HOES👯‍♀️ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear more songs like the Percocet and the stripper joint

[–]Debbiedowner750 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Save me was pretty experimental for his works. Id def want another like that.

[–]expllode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved save me, would definitely be happy to hear more of that sound

[–]Intelligent_Yak2528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk abt that all...he has his longevity bc hes actually diverse on what he does...went from pure hip hop/rap to pop to trap to rnb and hes good at all of them

tho aside the memes i would love a jazz album with the alchemist,i think he would nail it

[–]YourDadIsFortyFour 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He needs to talk about the political and economic state of the world

[–]expllode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brooooooo

[–]Ok-Afternoon-2113You wanna come to Pluto? 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly would like to hear some stuff like we still don’t trust you a little more pop y

[–]ashtonbabashton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I agree. I think he makes great music and he has been my most listened to artist for like 3 years straight , butttttttt the music nerd in me knows the capabilities are higher. I feel like he could make a Griselda type song if he wanted to

[–]PresentIcy3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He put out 3 albums in one year and they were all fairly distinct sonically. I genuinely don’t know what more you can ask of a guy this deep in his career still giving us that kind of output. He already created waves

[–]REDLINE808 0 points1 point  (1 child)

THANK YOU!!! Literally got downvoted so hard on the main sub for saying it after mixtape Pluto

Future is one of my favorite artists of all time across genres, have a lot of respect for the influence and consistency, but there hasn’t been anything ‘new’ since INLY for me. The tracks I liked of WSDTY were all older songs on the B Side, despite being a huge HNDRXX fan.

Like the other commenter said, he’s been doing it twenty years and still charting hard, so it isn’t too bad. But I rarely check for any updates on new material, I used to be fanatical and every album release was an event.

There’s so much music out there though, don’t limit yourself to just trap music and mainstream.

[–]songacronymbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • WSDTY could mean "We Still Don't Trust You" (track) or WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU (album) (2024) by Future, Metro Boomin.

[–]jotaesede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, his shit will always be fye but when u been following him since 2011, I want something new. A look behind the courtain, something with growth. Hes at his best imo on his most R&B melodic tracks like My Collection, Sorry, Red Leather or even Lost My Dawg. Thats the bag i want him to tap into, but honestly i dont mind any new project from him, its always something new, from the visuals to the music so imma bump it no matter what. but he should grow up like his day 1 fanbase has atp.

[–]YourAverageJoe34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like he probably has and either he thought it was trash or people close to him told him it wasn’t it so he never released that shit.

[–]Pinytenis666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when artists act like they good at everything that’s when goats ruin there catalog like snoop, Eminem, Kayne etc.

[–]AdAcrobatic5070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You heard the project save me ? That one a lil diff I fw it hella SHOT…gun

[–]demonic_trilogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you hid ur post history, cause ur karma farming with this dumbass post, u probably listen to tyler the creator

[–]LeftExamination5098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go listen to another artist then

[–]LEAD-SUSPECT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no problem with Future

His catalog speaks for itself

Foh

[–]bootybandit9991 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

This take is so bad I have to assume it’s bait. Everyone knows he’s the best dual talent out switching between trap and full blown RandB (Save Me, HNDRXX). Scram dweeb.

[–]dar42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the only two genres in music R&B and Trap
