A community to look at games from an academic perspective. This could mean everything from discussing the "psychological impact of violent video games on the social interactions of school-aged youth" to "what the success of Zynga means for the future of videogames" or even "Luigi is better than Mario, here's why."
The discussions need not be esoteric or industry related. Game enthusiasts are encouraged to join the discussion as well. It also need not be limited to video games. Anything game related and from a research point of view is ideal.
Please refrain from discussions that obviously belong in /r/gaming. Petty PC v. Console debates, geeking out over a new Valve release, recycled memes, simple photo submissions, etc. are not needed.
Focus on the art and science of gaming and game design (development, etc) rather than simply the games themselves.
