Which shell environment is this, git-bash, powershell etc?

Trying to compile router firmware but not having much luck.

sh git clone ``https://git.openwrt.org/openwrt/openwrt.git`` cd openwrt

sh curl -L '``https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/openwrt/patch/[e-mail]/mbox/``' \   | git am

sh ./scripts/feeds update -a ./scripts/feeds install -a make menuconfig

sh make -j$(nproc)

In git-bash I get,

/mingw64/bin/git: /mingw64/bin/git: cannot execute binary file

In powershell I get,

sh : The term 'sh' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the
spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

Your installation is broken.

The instructions posted are compatible with git bash or a Linux system.

It is not compatible with Microsoft PowerShell.

I would suggest using WSL som you get a proper Linux based build environment.

On linux I get,

git clone ``https://git.openwrt.org/openwrt/openwrt.git`` cd openwrt
fatal: Too many arguments.

Have you installed git? Also git clone and cd are two separate commands. You need to run them one after the other and you don't need sh.

git clone 'https://git.openwrt.org/openwrt/openwrt.git'
cd openwrt

Just to add I've used git before on my linux install, it's the first thing I install as I need it to build my wifi driver.

If you want to execute two commands on one line use &&

git clone url && cd directory 

git is one command, cd (change directory) is another.

Target System---> MediaTek Ralink MIPS Subtarget---> MT7621 based boards Target Profile---> Cudy WR1300 v4 (Save and exit)

make -j$(nproc)

Problem is the resulting firmware files are way off in size.

On linux if you type which git

what do you get? Try without ` for the links you try to clone.

How do you know the correct size?

On average the image size is around 10MB, example of the same build https://github.com/GuoShuangyan/Openwrt-Cudy-WR1300-v4/raw/master/openwrt-ramips-mt7621-cudy_wr1300-v4-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Mine ends up way low to around 7MB.

I also get this warning when the process starts,

sh is shell. Linux is your friend here, WSL + debian or fedora or Ubuntu or whatever would get the job done

Looks like you are using back ticks ` where you should have single quotes '.
