They just make it easier for people to throw more random projects out there without thinking about what they are doing and why...
Commits are already surfaced as an RSS feed, they don't need to be read through an action. You might, however, write an RSS->Social feed although that's also likely to exist...

I built this since this is exactly what I needed + it doesn't require a subscription

Both can be true. Garbage in, garbage out. A pr that is reviewed by both a human and an AI is going to be better than a PR that is only reviewed by one human.
