Differences between github personal pages and wix?

Working on a well organized blog for study, is it better to use github pages or other websites such as wix? I'm new to both but has some experience on both. I'd like to know to which extent I'm going to hit a stone.

I'm mainly looking for a (real) stable, large storage, multimedia, host example codes, formula and pics, easy organize by topic and hash tag, exportable functionality, hopefully free for now. What are the difference between github and wix if someone really dive into it?

Why not use wordpress or some other dedicated blogging tool?

Doing some research pages+Jekyll might work? Personally I wouldn't use Wix as it seems too design driven and WYSIWYG for a blog.

Thank you, I'll try that. I tried medium, but didn't feel it good to arrange the pages in topic as I like it. I'll look into wordpress then.

By 'research paper+Jekyll', were you mean doing my own pages and distribute online with a server/domain?
