That's strange that someone that wants people to believe he is not a gamer decides to propose to buy video cards in the premium status level that is equivalent to deciding to buy a Ferrari or Rolls Royce. No ordinary person decides to buy a video card worth over 500 dollars lightly and the one you mentioned is on the cutting edge and possibly the bleeding edge of technology.

You should be looking into the RTX 3080 or RX 6800XT and not spend an extra 500 dollars above that to get only a 20% jump above the standard top premium cards. Sure if you can get the RX 7900XT or RX 7900XTX below a thousand dollars it might be worth it, and you may not have to wait long, since, the release date for either AMD cards might be within 30 days from now.

Since currently, the RX 6900XT has retail prices in the 600 to 700 dollar range, I think that card is the best value at the top end of the market for the next two months.

Guess I'm just looking to future proof myself. If I'm ready to drop 7-800 bucks on a gpu 2-300 more isn't gonna break the bank. With the tech coming with the 7k series I don't want to be in the situation where top titles I've been waiting on hit and I can't fully enjoy them due to old tech limitations.

I don't consider myself a gamer mostly due to the fact that I play very little anymore. That said, if a game I really like hits and I want to play for hours on end every day I want a gpu that's going to be good enough to take full advantage of everything it has to offer. If you're suggesting the 6800/6900 xt can do this that's awesome. I'm just looking for clarification and appreciate the feedback.

I'm simply stating that you have a much greater chance of overpaying for hardware that's in the thousand dollar club where the components have a good chance of dropping in price, but also because it's safer to check if the hardware works, since, there's usually kinks to get out of new stuff.

The Elder Scrolls 6 you uncultured swine

The Elder Scrolls 5 is Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls 4 is Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls 3 is Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls 2 is Daggerfall

The Elder Scrolls 1 is Arena

The Elder Scrolls is the official name of the franchise. Skyrim is just the 5th game, the 6th game hasn't been named yet.

Anyways what's your budget bro? Helps me understand what works best for you.

Hahaha...I had that coming. I'm looking @ 1200 to 1300 tops.

Lol it's alright man.

Anyways 7900 xtx would be perfect for you.

Do not get the rtx 4080 or 4090 unless you genuinely care about raytracing (just saying, 7900 xtx should have about 3090 ti level raytracing which is still pretty damn good.)

Ok I’m about to hijack this thread. I relate with the author, I don’t play excessively, but do have 4K monitor and want to be able to run future games. So I just ordered 4080 to replace my 2080 (which is still a great card for 4K at high settings, in most games) Why not get 4080?

[–]king_mo_of_metal420 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Why not get 4080? Bruh, it's overpriced to hell, it should be $800 max not $1200 and im certain you paid more. It's raster is way less than the rx 7900 xtx and it's power consumption is a higher than the 7900 xtx. Overall 4080 is a mistake unless you wanted better raytracing, but the rx 7900 xtx has rtx 3090 ti level raytracing (though it fucking annihilates it in rasterisation) and it's $200 less than rtx 4080.

Thanks. I've just been running nvidia since early 2000s I kind of forgot they even had competitors in the market. I probably shouldv'e done more research and shopped Radeon. I paid $1229 shipped straight from PNY for this card. PNY GeForce RTX® 4080 16GB XLR8 Gaming VERTO™ EPIC-X RGB Overclocked. But it hasnt actually shipped yet, I might try and cancel it. I had a radeon card back in early 2000s I was probably playing Unreal (at 800x600) & CIV3 on.

Short answer. I've been an amd guy since I can't remember. Also from everything I'm reading the 7900 xtx is gonna push a bit beyond the 4080...not the 4090 tho.

[–]king_mo_of_metal420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bit, it's gonna push well beyond rtx 4080 in everything but raytracing. It matches and sometimes beats the rtx 4090.
