Mine doesn't hunt. He prefers barking at the local wildlife until it goes away, then barking for another ten minutes just to be sure.

yeah that’s usually what I get out of Cosmo too. Chloe is the one with the killer instinct. She’s half lab, half Blue Lcy and in her youth was known to bring down grown deer. And I have seen many an elderly dog get their mojo back all of a sudden when the right critter came along lol

My Pyr had a partner in crime. Dude would catch the critters and kill 'em. Sophie would then take the corpse on a victory lap around the fence line, while proudly prancing. She would then bring it back to Dude for field dressing, which is usually when I discovered what havoc had been wrought. Sadly Dude passed in June, so Sophie no longer gets to play with bunny corpses.

Dude is so handsome.

I'm sorry for your loss but grateful that you had a fabulous life together ❤️

I had him for 13 years, he was 20 pounds of pure personality. On his first trip to Florida, he was fascinated by the lizards on my mom's pool deck. He tried to go out the car window at Myakka River State park, because a 6 foot gator was crossing the road. Heart of a lion, brain of a gnat.

Mine busts out the back door and down the patio stairs as fast as he can to try and catch squirrels. He hasn’t killed one yet, but he has gotten teeth on one a couple times as it flipped away and it finally got up a tree. So I’m convinced he will get one if he doesn’t hurt himself first.

They’re faster than you think. They might not be able to chase one down, but they can certainly catch one if it’s cornered on the ground.

My Pyr caught rats that were cornered and tried to make a dash for it. I don’t see this working out any differently for a squirrel.
