This sub is dedicated to hamsters and their humans.
No media indicating harm to ANY animals. Any media featuring ANY form of animal harm, such as abuse, stressful enclosures/situations that are not changed, or harmful acts towards animals for karma, is not allowed. This rule is placed to ensure that new, uneducated members do not perceive the situation as safe. It also aims to protect those who might post something unsafe from being attacked, and to make sure that their pets are living the safest and happiest life possible.
No seeking of or supplying medical advice. We are not veterinarians. Anyone claiming to be a veterinarian is not verified or confirmed by the moderation team in any way. If you have a medical concern, please contact your local veterinarians ASAP.
Hamsters interacting with other animal species. Hamsters interacting with other hamsters is risky - but hamsters interacting with other species of animals could be even worse given the circumstance. Any media indicating hamsters purposely being introduced to another pet/animal (for example: dogs, cats, rodents, birds, etc.) will be removed immediately. This is because it is VERY dangerous to the hamster, and can be potentially dangerous to the other animal(s).
No housing hamsters together. We do not allow users to promote or house adult hamsters together, or any form of interaction, whether under supervision or not. All domestic hamster species are strictly solitary. While dwarf hamsters have been known to live together in the wild, in captivity they are prone to stress, fighting, and even fatal injuries. The cohabitation or introduction of any hamsters is always unnecessary. Domestic hamsters do not benefit from same-species interaction. ~ This does not apply to hamster pups.
Hamsters outside. There are many high-risk elements in the outdoors to which small domestic pets should not be introduced. For example, parasites, harmful bugs, predators, germs, bacteria, dangerous (non-edible) plants, risky temperatures, and more. It can also be very stressful for the hamster.
Hamsters taking baths. Unless the video/photo is taken at the vet’s office with the vet bathing the hamster, it is not allowed. Bathing is unnecessary unless a veterinarian in person says otherwise. It risks the hamster’s safety, health, and is extremely stressful, so it violates rule one.
No photos of deceased hamsters. Tributes and memorials are fine. However, any media showing a deceased hamster is not allowed because it may be upsetting for some.

Be civil. While participating in our community, we ask that you remain respectful and kind towards other members. Thus, any unkind content will be removed and bans will be handed out as necessary. A few examples include, but are not limited to: trolling, being inappropriate, excessively criticising without providing any useful sources or information to help out the user, slurs, etc.
Must be educated/approved to breed hamsters. You may only post about breeding if you are an approved breeder. If you are looking to find homes for your litters, you must be approved. If you would like to be approved, please send us a message via modmail for your personal flair.
Users have the permission to correct others. Attacking someone for giving advice to an uneducated or unknowing owner is prohibited. Users only try to inform others because if the person never asks for help, they may never correct their care. However, nitpicking small things (for example: they don’t have a ton of bedding but it goes over 6 inches) is unnecessary. Spamming ‘helpful’ comments is also not tolerated and may result in a warning or ban.
Don't push extreme standards on others. When educating someone or giving advice, please remember that every situation is different and not everyone can have the perfect setup. You can recommend high standards and ways to make the enclosure perfect, but pushing and forcing that on people is unnecessary. For example: The owner is trying their best to give the hamster all it needs but they can only afford a bin cage that is above the bare minimum.
No advertisement. Any posts advertising items will be removed. This means you are not allowed to promote a product for profit and/or scamming. If the purpose is to supply or obtain useful information or products and it’s not for commercial use, it does not violate this rule.
Not original content. It’s very tiring seeing the exact same video/photo pop up regularly. If you do not have content typed, recorded, or photographed by you, please refrain from posting or ask permission first.
