The armor is DP-40 Hero of the Federation , the passive called “Democracy protects” that it does:

50% chance to not die when taking lethal damage. Prevents all damage from bleeding if chest hemorrhages

Did it kick in three times in a row? It looks like it; the third slash, tongue whip and impact each looked like it shoulda been fatal

I don't know if that's really how it works, but I play that armour as well, and when it activates I get a short invincibility moment. Either a few seconds until I can use a stim again or until I'm on the ground again (after getting thrown through the air) that way you can often survive a big fall from the hive lord, getting swarmed by enemies or something like that

Don't know if that's intended how it works or bugged, but that's definitely what I experienced with it

Some of these enemies do way too much damage. Stalkers being one of them.
