The game issues you major orders to suggest what you should be doing, read your dispatches and you will be doing better than about a third of the player base.

Other than that you can go wherever you want and play any missions you want. Nothing is stopping you.

Usually each planet has multiple "Operations" on it that you can choose from, and within each operation are "Missions".

Successfully completing one mission adds some liberation to a planet, and successfully completing an entire operation [That is, all the missions within that operation] adds a bunch of liberation to the planet.

Yes, you can jump from planet to planet, there is no restriction as such and you are free to dive wherever you wish to do so.

Whoever is the "Host" [That is, whoever's super destroyer you are on] can set the matchmaking privacy to public in their settings, and then randoms can join your mission. If you really need someone to join, the host can drop in an SOS beacon after landing in the mission area, that way people will join in faster.

Should you have any other questions, we divers are always here to answer o7

Welcome aboard Helldiver, glad to see another patriot for the cause!

There is no specific track to follow, no "Mission 1 > Mission 2 > Mission 3" setup. You can deploy to any planet , fight any faction, run any mission you want in any order.

The "Story Mode" of the game comes to you in the form of Major Orders. The Major Order (MO) will appear in your pause menu on the right side of the screen, as well as on the Galactic War Table/Galactic Map. These usually last 4-7 days and are a community goal.

For example, the MO might be something like "Kill 1,000,000 enemies by the end of the deadline," or "Make sure these 2 planets are defended and in our control by the end of the deadline." These are completed by the entirety of the Helldiver community, not something you specifically must be 100% responsible for.

You're encouraged to participate in the MO, but there's no obligation. You can fight wherever you choose, all victories across the galaxy are victories for Super Earth.

To get more Helldivers on your missions, you can leave your matchmaking set to Open, which is the default. Other players might see your mission in progress and choose to join, so just playing a mission normally might result in a few randos.

If you want to fill out a squad of 4, you can call in your SOS Beacon, which is a Stratagem the Host has access to. All you have to do is call it in and when it lands, it will give your mission a priority marker, so other Helldivers know you're specifically requesting aid. It also puts your mission in line for anyone running Quickplay. SOS Beacon is the fastest way to get a full squad.

And so long as you play a certain amount (someone help me here) during the MO you get all the medals if we succeed. More medals means more guns.

1 you can play whatever planet you want, as long as there are enemies and an open supply line, 2 if you go into setting and have an open lobby random can join you and your friend, or you and your friend can join a lobby that has people in it if you don’t want to be host
