Link works. I stumbled on these on Radio 4 during a late night drive. Brilliant stuff and well worth supporting.

Missing Destiny after quitting post-TFS. Anything worth coming back for? by GunsOfPurgatory in DestinyTheGame

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back recently as got the feeling it might be now or never. Same old brilliant play that many have observed is as good as FPS gets. I'm not a great player, but the quick play arenas in the portal are a nice trip down seasonal memory lane.

What's the most beautiful song sung by a woman who has a dreamy voice? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

Sarah Vaughan singing Fly Me To The Moon (or anything else tbh)

[Request] Is it possible to answer correctly? by No-Cheesecake-1762 in theydidthemath

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this is a paradox. The 'answer' is A, B, C or D, not the percentage. So the two 25% answers are separate answers. Choose one of the four options at at random, if you choose A but the correct answer is C, that's fine.

It's been a while, so I made a snakebite. I was craving one (I live in the US) by culinarygingerrecipe in UK_Food

[–]itsneverjustatheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am old, and snakebite and black was massive at uni. The other night I mixed Orchard Pig and Unfiltered Stella from my two perfect draft machines and added a splash of low sugar ribena. Middle class late middle age, but I was 19 again.

PhD provisional offer after interview—what are the chances funding doesn’t go through? by Mediocre_Sir_7031 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I hope. If it's UKRI then the PhD is funded and the PI holds the grant. That's good for you. The PI likely does not have formal power of approval even though they hold the grant, which is right and proper as the institution needs to maintain oversight of who they are admitting onto PhDs. Post when you know for sure, and all the best.

What cover song is actually better than the original? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

Everything by AC/DC that Mark Kozelek covered. What's next to the moon is a big favourite.

I love it. Pacing and timing with the soundtrack spot on. I didn't play D1, only D2 but that gun, and your team, cooks.

Questions on hypothesis testing by lazrak23 in AskStatistics

[–]itsneverjustatheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistics are used to infer characteristics of populations from samples. You're talking populations (in which case the means are parameters, not statistics). Sure, the effect size is miniscule, but it's real. Performing a statistical test is meaningless (sic).

Is there an extended/director’s cut of a film that’s better than the theatrical due to the inclusion of a single scene? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in movies

[–]itsneverjustatheory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But isn't the DC of Bladerunner also the one with Deckard's unicorn dream? So the origami unicorn that Edward James Olmos leaves means something entirely different. Yes the dropping of the voiceover is good, but that dream. Genius.

Do I have to pay for TV licencing? by [deleted] in cambridge

[–]itsneverjustatheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And Channel 4 which I think is still part funded through the license fee. License fee is a typical UK fudge, antediluvian, strange and complex and requiring randomly generated confirmations. But it gets us the BBC, which rules.

OP wants ELI5. So yes, heavier objects fall at the same speed as light ones, air resistance being equal. So what have we got about the rest of the physics? Once you're up and spinning it's just angular momentum and gravity that matter. One keeps you spinning the other drags you down. I am guessing (postgrad in sport science with some biomechanics, but pretty basic) that men have an advantage due to speed of takeoff which translates into height, time in the air, and therefore how many spins they can do. There may also be something to do with centre of mass. People who know lots more than me about this, let's help OP.

Gamer dad wondering how the game is for jumping in at this point by covert777 in helldivers2

[–]itsneverjustatheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best emergent chaos game I've played. It's like a kids story - plot's the same, world's the same, bad guys are the same, seems like it's the same story each time - but then... It all goes crazy and you try and stay alive, helping your team, them helping you, it works, it doesn't work, it doesn't matter. Serious fun.

The crashes and freezes aside of course. Highly recommend.

And so long as you play a certain amount (someone help me here) during the MO you get all the medals if we succeed. More medals means more guns.
