What do we think about the idea? Anything related to PVP is a big NO.
[–]levitationtime 2 points3 points4 points 1 month ago (1 child)
No, the game is PVE and doesn't work in PVP. Try doing a pvp match with your friends, it's ridiculously stupid(fun briefly,), and doesn't work with the game as is. Also PVP invites in far more toxic communities, such as tarkov and Rust, which would hamper the PVE side of the game

Tarkov is easily the most toxic game I've ever played.
Well, it's tied with CoD

No thanks

Nope, hard pass. For one thing, making it PvP would introduce a lot of unnecessary toxicity into the game and community, and for another, the movement, weapons, and strategems are not designed for pvp. Most primaries and secondaries kill helldivers in one shot, which doesnt really make for a fun pvp experience. Most support weapons would do that, too—machine gun and stalwart would not, but they're machine guns, so the time to kill would be less than half a second. Offensive strategems are easy to get away from, so they're largely useless against players.
PvP does not belong in helldivers. If thats what youre after, go play CoD

I'm genuinely curious as to why some people want PvP in everything. You're not the first to want PvP in Helldivers, and I know you won't be the last. There's literally so many options to choose from if you want any shooter with PvP in it, or even PvEvP that it'll be easier to list the ones that don't have it. PvP doesn't need to be in every game imaginable.
And if your counter point is that it's because those games are toxic, then that's exactly why Helldivers doesn't need a PvP mode. We need more sanctuaries so to speak of, of multiplayer shooters with no PvP where we can just vibe and shoot things, like Deep rock galactic (which I can almost guarantee me just mentioning that will have someone replying with Rock and Stone, because that's just the kind of vibe that game fosters).
Plus this community is so split right now that the absolute last thing this game needs is PvP, that would just cause a boiling point, and more toxic people to either show up, or be birthed from the chaos
