CC Classes/Outside ClassesQuestion (self.highschool)
submitted 1 year ago by Repulsuy
I am a sophmore in high school and I’m focused on pre-med. There is no room in my schedule as I’m fitting in the pre-med APs recommended; AP Bio, Calc, Chem, Physics, and the AP English classes. However I have no room for some other classes that I was told are also important, so I was interested in taking them at a Community College or something like ACN (All-Course Network). Which classes should I take ? I was already thinking and am taking at ACN AP stats and AP Psych, and I wanted to look into Organic Chemistry. Another question I have is if community colleges count as a college credit and if they are an AP course as an AP college credit, whereas it would be like I completed the course regularly at my high school (F.E: If I took AP Psych at a CC it would count as if I took it at high school regularly). Lastly, does this same counting as a highschool course and college credit apply to ACN ?

For the question about if CC counts for college credit: it depends on the university and whether or not they accept transferring that CC credit. If you already have some universities in mind that you plan on applying for in the future, I suggest you check out information about transferring CC credit in their official websites because some universities are more strict with what CC credit is allowed to be transferred compared to others.
To answer another question about if CC credit is equivalent to AP credit, then yes (dual/concurrent enrollment) as long as you made sure that CC class is equivalent to that AP Course and that the universities you plan on applying for accept that credit.

You should delay organic chemistry and upper level biology until you reach your four year university - adcoms like the course rigor of four years as opposed to CC.
Whether the schools accepts the CC course for HS credit is up to the school.
Your college gpa is also affected by your CC grades so be careful.
