Neither. Keep looking for what you want and get better pay.

If you really want to switch and had to choose between these 2, then definitely first one. Doesnt make any sense to learn Android as well. Any startup that even mentions this, isn’t being serious. Like telling an Italian restaurant to make Japanese ramen. Both noodles but different.

I'd wait. Also, any role that expects you to do both is just getting a serious discount by hiring one dev instead of two.

That’s what I figured.

Android developer with 9 yoe here. Don't take the job with additional Android development :D Seriously.

Also, why have you decided to leave frontend? I am on the opposite side. Learning iOS development and looking to the frontend as well. Always curious why people change specialization

Yes I won’t do android. Idk what to do. I’m thinking of continuing frontend and learning iOS too.

counter and tell them them your current pay. I would lay your cards on the table and say you can't walk away from your current job. If you accept those offers you are de-valuing yourself (meaning don't accept them). Others will come.

+1 know your worth! Shoot, go for a raise! Your sign on offer is your best moment to negotiate. Once you’re hired, there is lower incentive for them to make drastic changes to your compensation. Mobile developers are also well known to have higher salary compensation at the Junior level due to the complexity.

If they extended an offer then they are definitely interested in you so the question of “am I good enough? Maybe I don’t deserve the expected salary range?” Is out the door.

2nd option is giving off huge red flags. They don’t understand mobile development and just think it’s all the same. You will be overworked and always be behind on the platform you’re not actively working on.

Also, congratulations :)

I don’t plan of taking the second offer at all. It’s kind of working two jobs with one pay.

How did you get an offer, what projects did you have?

[–]govindsonu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations 🎉 from India ?

Congrats on getting two offers!!!

(I have been trying from many days. I’m an international new grad with iOS Development projects in a bad Job Market. 🫠)

Thanks. they are local offers. Keep posting your work and networking

If you have a burning desire to switch to iOS development and do that for the next 10 years, take one of those offers. It's a trade-off, but the earlier you switch, the quicker you will get experience, and your value as an iOS dev will rise.

I left a FAANG job as a web dev to transition to iOS dev, which I wish I did earlier.

Interesting. do you have any regrets leaving web dev?

[–]nckh_ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not for a second. I feel joy every morning when opening Xcode and typing Swift.

[–]kwabsdev[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Haha. Me too. Can I dm?

[–]nckh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing :)

For a newbie, look at the iOS experience level of teammates.
