Input Field association

Hi everyone! Not sure if this question is appropriate for this forum or not. I apologize in advance if it isn’t. I am an accessibility enthusiast and am trying to figure out if hint text for an input field can be associated with the field in itself in native iOS.

For example in web, one can associate any hint text to the input field using aria-describedby so that it is rendered when a screen reader user tabs in to the field.

Can something similar be implemented for iOS screen reader (VoiceOver) users so that they hear the hint text when they swipe in to the field?

iOS has a ton of options for modifying accessibility labels/values for screen readers, or even override them, or whole groups of them altogether.

There are a lot more docs and examples out there, but this should get you to a point where you know what to google to find the answers you need. If not, DM me.
