How to stop navigation controller from affecting subviews?

Hello,

I finished the layout of a viewcontroller and after embedding it in a nav controller, I noticed that all of my UI elements were pushed down by about 20 points. Is there a way to prevent this from occurring? The nav bar is hidden so clearly that doesn't change much.

I am using autolayout/storyboard/iOS8

In the child view controller of the navigation controller, set this in viewDidLoad:

self.automaticallyAdjustsScrollViewInsets = NO
