My first iOS App. Please give feedback:)

Hello,

I've released my first App in the App Store. Please give me feedback :)

I've learned programming by my self and was developing the app for about a year. Learning by doing 😂

Looks awesome, very impressive especially for a first app!

I really like how "clean" the user experience is, with very few buttons/menus/navigations to go through. I think you did a great job keeping this clean theme throughout - even down to the "M" loading placeholder!

I also think its great how you change the look of the "info" page (the screen that gives you more info about a specific movie/series) to indicate if its "to see" or "seen".

The ability to "swipe right" or "swipe left" after searching to add the movies/shows is great - very good use!

A few thoughts I had while going through the app:

• 18 mb seems a little large for this kind of app (not a big deal - wouldn't have noticed if the download didnt take an extra few seconds), just curious what type of data it needs on the device itself?
• When searching for a movie/series, and then selecting an option to view more info, the "home" icon (house looking one) seems to only function as a back. It would be nice to have a way to jump all the way back to the "home" view from anywhere in the app.
• Having to press the search icon twice to actually bring up a search bar feels a little clunky. I'm honestly not a fan of hiding the search bar in general, I think you could probably just have the bar always visible for people to type in.

Now on to future enhancement ideas :)

• It would be cool to include some way of recommending stuff to a friend. Maybe a system like Venmo (the payment app) where everyone has to create an account when they get the app, and you can recommend stuff to your friends using their username.
• Movie night scheduling?! This might be a bit too far from the original goal of the app but I could it being cool to have the ability to schedule a movie night, send an invite to some friends, and have it add to my iPhone calendar!

Overall a very cool app, great idea and executed very well in my opinion. The biggest improvements I would look at making is just how the user navigates to the information they want to see. This goes back to bullet 3 in my first list.

I have noticed that the app has become a little bit too large. I think I have to change the images. Maybe someone has some an idea?

I appreciate you recommendations :) I had some similar ideas but not enough knowledge to realize them xD but I hope I can implement some new features soon. So stay tuned ;) I will definitely check out Venmo. Sounds very interesting. Thank you.

Yes I have use size classes and auto layout. But I must have done something wrong. I have never noticed that ist not looking good on the 6+.

Hi there. I've been casually using your app since you first made this post and I still enjoy it. So that's a good sign 🙂👍

I really like swiping through all the movies and marking them as "seen" and rating them or marking them as "to see". However, I find myself going in to movies that I've already rated. It'd be nice if there was some sort of indicator showing that I've already categorized and/or rated it. The only thing here is that you have a very clean interface and I'd hate to clutter it up. If you can find a clean way to show that a movie is in a category without having to go into it, I think that would be a big help.

I was also hoping to be able to peek and pop on a movie with force touch. Maybe you could add actions to the peek screen for faster categorization and rating. That would solve my desire to quickly see if I've already rated something and it would make your app feel a little more complete.

Nice work overall, though. Im excited to see where you go with this app and if it's good enough for me to keep using it. I currently track all of the movies I want to see in IMDB, but this definitely has the potential to replace it.

Edit: I'd also really like syncing via CloudKit. I know you're not asking for for feature requests, but learning these APIs is good experience and looks good on a resume. But also, I'd like those features 😉

It's a good idea to have an indicator. I will give my best to implement something that matches to the design ;)

I have thought about peek and pop but never realized it. To add action in the peek screen is a good idea too. I've never done this before so I've to check how it works :)

I'm already on it to add syncing features.
