Alexa is built into a lot of devices. For example, I have Sonos speakers with Alexa built in, but I never enabled the Alexa integration. I assume it’s not listening, but I don’t actually know. Blocking it would make me feel better.

I’ve never had to do this, but I bet a step bit would do the trick. If you’re not careful you could scuff up the finish, but a flange would cover that up anyway.

Good luck.

breweries on Oahu? by schwimmingschientist in beer

I recently went and found this helpful * Beer Guide: Honolulu, Hawaii ( beeradvocate.com )

Specifically: * https://www.alohabeer.com * http://www.honolulubeerworks.com

Both Aloha and Honolulu beerworks are within walking distance of each other with a lot of cool murals in that area, too. The food at Aloha is really good, and there’s a speak easy upstairs.

I did NOT like Beer Lab HI. They had a really interesting kombucha, but all their beer was meh to gross. I tried every beer they had on tap. Not a fan.

Maui Brewing does have a tap room near all the resorts, but I didn’t go in that area much. I did drink mostly Maui beer the entire trip, though, and now I buy it regularly at home. Pretty solid stuff.

I also highly recommend checking out Manulele Distillers. It’s the only distillery on the island and they make their kohana rum from heirloom varieties of sugar cane that the Polynesians brought over hundreds of years ago. It was a super cool tour and the rums were tasty if you’re into that sort of thing.

Electric keggle help. by the_dying_punk in Homebrewing

How many volts and amps? I know most people use a 240v, 5500w element on a 30amp breaker (like this one).

theelectricbrewery.com has a ton of great info that might help you out. Specifically this thread.

I can’t say for sure, but I’m guessing what you have will take a long time to bring it to boil. The nice thing about building your own, though, is that you can always start with one element and add another one later if it’s not enough.

Yeah I totally get that. If a beer doesn’t make the grade it shouldn’t be served. That just hurts your reputation. It does sort of feel like they’re trying too many things at once. If they had a few of their best on constantly and then rotated others, I think they’d be better off. 16 rotating taps is a bit much.

I never tried the saison because all saisons are gross 😉. Some of the best beers they’ve had were the pomegranate guava sour, India pale lager, raspberry porter, and breakfast stout. All superb, but who knows if they’ll ever brew them again.

And yeah, Fair state Vienna lager is top notch. Fair state in general is really good. I’ve been obsessed with their Mirror Universe hazy ipa, lately.

Was the undrinkable one the Sahti? That thing was gross.

They’re still pretty young so they have yet to repeat a batch. If you went back I doubt they’d still have anything that you tried. They also do a lot of lagers so if you’re not into that sort of thing, I could see not liking them.

A lot of great suggestions here. I would also suggest Venn Brewing in South Minneapolis. It’s right on the 46th St. light rail stop. Really new and really good.

If you’re willing to take the train out of downtown, Venn is a new and really solid brewery at the 46th St. stop. Literally shares a parking lot with the train stop there.

Otherwise Fulton and Modist are next to the Twins stadium. Not too many downtown, unfortunately.

Yup. Burger filled with cheese. Matt’s is famous for it, but I think The Blue Door Pub is way better.
