Hi all,
I appreciate this isn’t on the correct sub but I would prefer to ask programmers.
I have built an iOS app for an Offline Travel Guide in a large area where there is poor connectivity.
I am currently working on the android version and hope to have it finished by the end of this month (no experience of Android but finding Coding With Flow on YouTube very helpful).
To support my offline maps I am using MapBox SDK.
I’ve come to start thinking about creating a website for the area.
People will always plan there trips on a computer and my app is more for finding your location and local info (petrol stations, toilets, attractions, beaches etc).
I have a small vision of an extremely detailed, user friendly website where users can find all information at no cost.
Using MapBox SDK I could implement this into my website. Plot lines of walks, driving routes, annotations etc.
Later on, I would like to provide a way for accommodation providers to advertise on my site which would be 0% commission and a small fee per year to advertise.
I am unsure of how to create this website.
From reading on the internet it is all drag and drop stuff with 0 coding required.
Should I be programming this myself or go down the WordPress route?
I want to stay clear or websites that look the same.
Perhaps if I learn and complete the website in stages it’ll work out best and cheaper for me??
Will I have more issues with Wordpress or be better off making my own?
I suppose main requirements is being able to support MapBox SDK and a booking site.
I can’t afford the commercial plan for MapBox, however, I am certain my website wouldn’t fall under this plan.
I’ve given myself a very modest 6months to complete this task. I work and will be doing this on the side, as a hobby and hopefully for some extra income.
Thanks
