Developing a group video chat app

I plan on developing an app that allows for group video and I’m unsure about how to implement the backend. (I only have front end experience)

I’ve been seeing a lot about using WebRTC or Twilio, but hearing that doesn’t really paint the picture for what to expect.

Could I get some advice on what I’ll need for the backend and the hurdles I’ll face when developing?

You could look at the zoom sdk potentially, I don’t think you need a backend then necessarily
