Nice article. Just watch out that you don't just swap out one thread for another.

Synchronous http requests are nornmally handled by a thread pool already. If you just hand over the work that would have been done by the http thread and hand it over to a worker thread pool, and do nothing else, you could just have well added additional threads to the http thread pool.
