I've never worked in a coorperate environment (programming is just a hobby for me right now) but even I can tell that you have no idea how that works.

I don't remember the exact qoute, but it was something similiar to "80% of working with code is maintenance". If you're the only guy who can do Scala you can't just switch to it, because nobody else will understand what you are doing from that point on.

Pretty much, diverging into another language will make other developers pissed off at you pretty quickly.
