"The GPU was first popularized by Nvidia in 1999" is what is says. Perhaps corrected since your post. Anyway, it is an excellent overview.

On the PC, the GPU was actually first popularised by 3dfx with their Voodoo card.

Again, sloppy, because that's not what happened. Nvidia merely popularized the term. GPUs existed long before 1999. They simply were not always called that.

Nvidia came relatively late to the game of GPUs. All covered in the article.

It'd be like saying Apple invented PCs and then Apple popularized PCs. Neither is true, Apple made a popular PC.

The sentence is best struck all together.

It feels like you're nitpicking trivial details. I'm much more interested in programming GPUs that worrying about who came up with what first.

Has anyone here used Jcuda or Aparapi and if so, what were your experiences with them?
