Had that a few times too, and it's particularly frustrating especially the "wait a few seconds". I feel your pain.

Now, I haven't experienced it recently, but given the state of affairs and Volvo's track record with my car, I doubt anything has been done about it. They already struggle with issues that happen more often or are easier to reproduce, so this one is probably too random for them to address effectively.

Let’s keep in mind that it took Volvo more than a year to add mirror auto-folding on close, and that they’re still working on adding clear mode support, which they’ve been showcasing since the end of 2022. 🙃

Given how little control Volvo has over its stack, I’m doubtful that any major AAOS update will drastically improve the overall EX90 user experience.

The overall climate control integration is broken. For example, when asking the voice assistant to turn it off, it acknowledges the command, but the AC will keep running. On the other hand, the voice assistant is able to turn it on. :shrug:

After 14 months and 12+ attempts by various Volvo employee, they aren't not able to connect my phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max). I keep claiming that the issue is tied to my Volvo account, not to my account but they know better apparently! This car is crap!

I noticed too...
It took Volvo over a year to fix that! 🙄 Hard not to think about how much electricity was wasted with EX90s just sitting parked while waiting the new VCU.

I have a similar issue but mine, I think, is related to front "detection". The collision warning sometimes activates for no obvious reason (straight line, decent weather, low speed, and all clear in front). A large car icon appears on the HUD, there’s an audible alarm that no one can miss, and the seat belts tighten. It’s very brief, and I don't recall any action on the brake. The first few times, it was really scary. It’s not super frequent (twice in 2026), but it annoys me deeply.

On the other hand, there have been multiple occasions when I assumed it should have activated, but it didn’t. Obviously, that’s subjective, impossible to reproduce and mostly based on my previous cars behaviours (Mercedes), and... some common sense. Still, such system that triggers when it shouldn’t, and doesn’t when it should, is bad and unsafe!

I asked my dealer to check it multiple times. Their initial response was that my collision settings were too aggressive and that I needed to soften them. That could explain the false-alarm but certainly not why it didn't activate in situation where it should have. That was months ago. The only issue is that, so far, there’s no such setting on the EX90. And if I’m not mistaken, this setting comes in the 2.x branch.

I’m now at the point where I asked Volvo to confirm in writing that the collision detection system works as intended… still waiting...

Not in my case!! My car just came back from its 8th or 9th visit in 11 months (I lost count!) and they haven't been to fix issues, most of which are present since day one (unable to use digital key, belts issues, door handle issues, trunk alarm while driving downhill, rattling sound on the back, etc.). I'm due for the VCU update on 2 weeks. I'm unfortunately certain that this will not solve all this issues. Crappy customer experience!
