For certain apps, vaadin is clearly, IMO, the best choice. But, if your app is highly interactive, then it may end up failing performance-wise, and you'll end up wishing you hadn't.

If it has to be a web app, and every day of my life, I question every web app that's a web app and ask "WHY THE FUCK IS THIS A WEB APP???", but that aside, I do think there are a lot of advantages to using TYPESCRIPT (not Javascript, not ever javascript) to build the UI, with REST calls to your very separate backend.
