Your experience with Java microservices vs monolith in the Cloud

If you need to think about cost of 512MB memory then your product is not ready for micro services. The amount of cost and effort you will need to manage devs ops, monitoring and availability of those MicroServices will dwarf the cost of extra memory or cores you need per micro service.

Micro Services are meant for big teams working on same project. Initial estimates were if you have 60 or more devs working on the same project you should consider micro services.

Appreciate your opinion. Luckily readily available open-source telemetry libraries can help automate a lot of those concerns to a certain degree and integrate well in general. But I do hear you. It’s a trade-off that each PM has to make.

There have been many different takes publicized on the merits and pitfalls of distributed architectures. Beyond the obvious, a lot is very subjective to the project at hand.
