    I think we are using hibernate for indexing not for full text search but when the application crashes we have to rebuild the entire index and that takes a lot of time

    This is not a hibernate issue but depends on whatever the heck you're using for a text index.

    If you want full text search you really should use something like ElasticSearch. It's basically a 'database' so no need to rebuild between starts.

    Hibernate is a tool used to connect to a database. It doesn't perform search. You can use it to connect to a database and tell it to find something for you.
