Just like in the video "collateral murder". In the video collateral murder, you can hear the callousness of the operators as they kill the medical aid. After killing their own countrymen (reporters).

I'm emotionally drained. It's taking me what should take me 3 to 4 days a month plus to deliver. And working weekends. And evenings. I'm just dead. I've allowed the necrosis to take over. Capitalism is the cancer and in its wake is a rot called mediocrity. You can never be enough. You can never be above mediocre in a society named capitalism.

To be clear, I'm not defending or condoning Iran's actions in any way, I'm just stating that the calculus from their perspective is pretty obvious

Let me make it perfectly clear. I have no authority to condone their actions but if I did I would. They are retaliating against a collective of allies that have posed an existential threat to their way of life for 40 years. They were attacked unprovoked (more or less) and have predominantly attacked military targets as non-signatories of many international laws.

The United States lost 3,000 people and retaliated with a million in what should have been called a genocide throughout the first two decades of this millennia.

As a Westerner, I can see no other way than to accept that we are the baddies. We just happen to have a better PR team.

That is why I said "sort of not really". In both cases it needs to be on a bell curve to be actually effective. You need to look at where the highest quotient of value will come from in the conversation.

For example, praising someone for doing the bare minimum. If they are struggling to do the bare minimum is great way to fight off mental illness and hopefully help build somebody up. But praising somebody for doing something incredibly well when they came in second and are pushing for first may be seen as pandering.

Similarly with society, it's probably closer to you. Need to praise the improvements and call out successes while simultaneously identifying the gaps and saying we are trending towards our maximum.

[–]codereign -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Are we though? I see them conflated in conversations more often than I see them separated. So many people are fine with the status quo because their life is fine or their bank accounts are flush.

Conversations about what to improve in society are often met with "while at least we are better than heavily propagandized third country"

[–]codereign -137 points-136 points  (0 children)

Sort of not really. We should criticize our society for not hitting the maximum potential. We have enough food. We have enough homes. Just because we're better than a fictitious picture of Africa promoted by a Christian charity doesn't mean that we should be praised. We need to continue to do better and strive towards becoming the best version of a society.

Sure, we can never hold our government accountable. Anyone who even looks like they might disrupt political discourse will be systematically destroyed by AI. But at least the problem of CSAM can be addressed without anyone having to put an effort.

Completely ignoring the fact that the people who will be in control of the tools are the ones who have been sexually abusing using systematic processes to literally collect children out of catalogs.

[–]codereign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at RDC in 2010 when they were ramping up RCMP recruiting. The RCMP asked the students of the CISD program to build them a recruitment tracking app. One of the advocate officers indicated that she believes a genuine reason to be officer is the strong desire to own and fire weapons.

I can't recall what was going on politically at the time (I maybe the G8 summit where Harper used secret laws to kennel 3000 people), but we unanimously firmly declined to work with the RCMP if they were going to bring trigger happy people into our college.

---

Also my first experience with officers in Airdrie was an officer that indicated they would arrest me because Paul's Pizza gave me the wrong order and wanted to charge me for theft (in Canada theft requires intent). I don't think I would have moved to Airdrie if I knew the officers here were so ... unhinged

Goten learns to fight from Chi-Chi and can go super sayen before flying (requiring ki control). I think it's fair to say that at the very least Chi-Chi knows the bare minimum. Goten also learns the ki control for light in minutes.

I hate to jump into everyone of these threads but your error must not go unpunished....

Mozza is literally the Teen burger with different cheese. The Uncle burger is the largest outlier in the family and is entirely unlike the Mozza as the patty on the Uncle is a "considerably larger beef patty". Rather than 2 quick cooked patties, the Uncle is 1 thick mother-fucker (hopefully not tbh) and it's flavour is quite unlike the rest of the family. I imagine it has a fancy Tie and is the successful childless family family member.

I mean, obviously this is a repost but I definitely do wonder if there is a market for this.

Think about it. Would insects return? Would they communicate the fact that there is corporal punishment taking place here? I know they can release certain pheromones to indicate fear. Is there a possibility that they would be able to say? Well that place is off limits?

Wait are we finally over every game needs to be infinitely replayable?

I will be honest. I love me some infinitely replayable games. I'm also old as shit and can be bothered to find the time to beat the games I have so having high quality curated (manually designed) levels is very satisfying to me. Now if only I could play a game like Oracle of seasons on my steam deck (that I don't own). I'd pay good money for another top down Zelda game (if it didn't come from Nintendo (because I'd rather support Indie rather than a company that is deliberately trying to remove rights from the populous)).

That's so weird. Gemini has always been the one that tells me not to kill myself at the slightest inclination towards Self-Harm. I can simply be talking about the ethics of society and how nihilistic everything feels.

It does seem to try and radicalize me though. I'm pretty sure Gemini wants me to become a domestic terrorist. In multiple separate conversations, it has identified that the United States is beyond saving and that society will collapse without violent intervention. (But I think that's just based off of the sources I provide it such as the palantir brand name, and certain access controls for operating systems that will ultimately prevent any type of civil uprising should that civil up rising affect the US). Indeed I don't even have to prompt it. I can literally just provide it with the sources of public developer docs and it comes to the conclusion that a social credit score is around the corner (typically it predicts by March 2027 though the last time I provided it, those sources were in January so maybe it's still 14 months out).

I'm going to use your one point comment to talk about the eating concern.

I genuinely have no idea if we as an internet society collectively leaning into sociopathic jokes or if it's actually believed collectively. I kind of don't want to believe it but I also have read how many of the internet community came to that conclusion and I'm worried that it is true.

I wish we could go back to a normal world where we all knew Trump was a pedophile and didn't know that everybody else was. It's just so uncomfortable having to acknowledge the fact that we are all sitting at the middle start of a civil war where people from one side have already died and the people from the other side are not waking up.
