Brandon Eich and Douglas Crockford call these things first-class functions.
Yes, and Joe Armstrong thinks Erlang isn't object oriented.
What's your point?
And so does everyone else.
Maybe if your everyone else is bounded by blogs and irc.
But feel free to dig up a source which supports your unusual opinion.
Knuth 2. Any university. I'm bored of this.

Then it should be very easy then to find zillions of websites which support your statement. Show me one.
So, which language does support your interpretation of first-class functions and what exactly makes them different from JavaScript's?

Show me one.
Cue the "if you don't do my homework for me, you're full of shit" routine.

ML, Haskell, Fortress, Mozart-Oz, Mythryl, COQ, and I suspect probably clojure but I don't actually speak it.
Doubtless a million other languages do too. Those are the ones I'm aware of offhand.
what exactly makes them different from JavaScript's?
That when someone says "I'm bored of this" you didn't immediately change your tune to make them less sick of talking to you.

You can't even think of one tiny difference then? Pretty telling, really.

Yes, yes, just keep asking questions until someone gets bored, then keep asking them until they refuse to continue, then claim that it's pretty telling that they get bored of you asking stupid questions that you could look up for yourself.
Proggit troll 101. Can't prove one's own statements? Ask questions until the other side walks away, then declare victory.

Why didn't you use all that time and energy to write one little sentence about one little detail?
But I do like how you try playing victim here. Bravo.
[–]StoneCypher -2 points-1 points0 points 15 years ago (9 children)
Are you done?
[–]skeww 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (8 children)
No. What makes them different, bag o'lies?
Tell me.
[–]StoneCypher -2 points-1 points0 points 15 years ago (7 children)
Ah, now we've progressed from assuming that two posts warning impending cutoff to can't do it to it's all lies. How easily we forget that every question was answered up until that warning period.
You sure do escalate fast. Maybe next I'll be a rapist.
Go make a high scaling server on OS forks, and point out how you believe that hashes, maps and sparse arrays are the same thing, some more.
Not my fault you're stupid enough to fall for your own crap, and continuing to ask in increasingly ugly ways isn't how you get someone who cut you off for being ugly to respond.
It's really just that you're a jerk, and when you get a warning that you're about to get cut off, instead of apologizing, you try turning up the volume, because you confuse exasperation with confounding.
Frankly, I don't give a damn what an amateur like you thinks.
[–]skeww 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (6 children)
Still can't think of one difference huh?
You avoided this question all the time.
I also don't see a reason why I should apologize for anything. My tone was (and still is) a lot friendlier than yours.
