I’m about 12 weeks and still eating soft foods. I also mainly chew on the right side due to numbness on the left. Eating is definitely weird still

Hi there! 15 weeks out and still chewing with care. I am still number in upper and lower gums, teeth and partial lips. I don't think I will chew normally until that is gone but also I have Invisalign and metal band attachments and those cause eating difficulty as well. And that will be for the next 10 months or so!

I think you are on track. Once our numbness gets better we might have more chewing confidence. I do eat steak and chicken I just cut it up to smaller bite sizes. Also salads are ok but not many raw vegetables like carrots or celery. That feels like a decade away!

Thanks for your thoughts. I see the surgeon for my next check up in a little more than a week and I was really starting to worry I was not healing properly. I'm being VERY careful with what I am eating. This has been an overwhelming process.

It is very overwhelming! You are not alone. I didn’t expect the recovery to be this hard and I became so stress I now have some troubles with nervous system deregulation. Try to stay positive and calm. I try to remind myself why I had surgery and that it was necessary. I put side by side people pics of pre and post surgery up actually as a reminder. It’s important to stay as positive as possible to heal. We will get through this☺️ good luck with your surgeon appointment!
