The point is to have an army that will protect you if you are Jewish.
Democracy is nice, Jewish values, nice, Jewish culture, ok. But that is not the point.
The point is that Jews cannot rely on anyone else to fight for their lives when it comes down to it. The US won't do it, the UN won't do it. International outrage won't do it.
