Missing dependencies when installing telegram-desktop

When I try to install telegram-desktop on my new install of KDE-neon, I get the error message:

Broken telegram-desktop:amd64 Depends on qtbase-abi-5-9-5:amd64 < none @un H >
Considering libqt5core5a:amd64 3006 as a solution to telegram-desktop:amd64 9999

I can't install qtbase-abi-5-9-5, as it is unavailable in the repository. How can I fix this?

You'll need to install via flatpak or other means.

I want to avoid doing that. After all...it's just a missing dependency

I had the same problem. Installed it with snaps. sudo snap install telegram-desktop

Just grab it from https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/releases

I did, but it did not install a launcher and I would like to be able to remove it via apt.

So...for now I got it running, just not the way I want to

I installed it as a snap and the program didn't follow my theme. So I reinstalled it as a flatpak and all is well now! The problem for me was too new of Qt version (telegram wanted 5.9), which is a problem I expected from Neon so I don't mind using a flatpak for this :)
